This particular mix is a live recording of my set at the legendary defunct club night, The Rootdown at the Gabah (a hole in a wall club, now a shopping plaza) in Los Angeles. This club night was a staple in the Los Angeles Hip Hop/Music scene during the mid-late 90's to the early 2000's. Ran by the Rootdown Massive including members of The Breakestra. S/O to Miles Tackett, Loslitos, Wyatt Case & the rest of the crew. Rest In Peace to the late great Dusk One & Arturo! If you were somebody that made noise or you were coming up in the scene during this time, you would know that The Rootdown is the place to be!

This was recorded in July 2003....I hooked up my portable DAT tape next to the turntables so you can hear everything including the crowd. I had 2 bags of records and it was a packed house, which made the needles skipped. As Dusk would say, there was a lot of friends & family in the house: of course The Junkies represented, Lootpack (Madlib, Wildchild, & Dj Romes) were in the house as well as MED, & lots of people that were there to get their groove on the dance floor. What i love DJing at the Rootdown & during those times is that you can play almost everything and even play new unfamiliar joints & people would get down!! This was definitely a special time. I really was trying to smash the set that night...lol. As my man Dusk would say...."One Time For Your Mind!"
